As a Data Scientist working within our Digital Analytics and Data Science Team, you have the chance to contribute to important and high-impact products and value propositions of Albert Heijn. There are many exciting ongoing and upcoming projects in the digital domain of Albert Heijn. For example, helping customers find what they need and, thus, enhancing their shopping experience by working on the search project; or improving the personal bonus offers within the Mijn Bonus Box using recommendation techniques. You will be able to contribute to our fast-pacing GenAI portfolio ranging from customer-facing projects to internal projects to help our own colleagues with latest LLM technologies.
As a member of the team, you will also become part of the vibrant and 40+ analysts, data scientists and machine learning engineers. Your teammates have different backgrounds and nationalities, which we believe is an important asset. We work closely together with the rest of the organization in cross-functional teams covering all the necessary roles, including product owner, machine learning engineer, analyst, DevOps, front-ender, UX. This will enable you to work with engineers and analysts as well as business stakeholders to deliver impact every single day.
As Senior Data Scientist, you:
- Take a leading role in building data solutions in the Digital Analytics and Data Science department of Albert Heijn
- Solve problems holistically through analysis, modelling and experimentation
- Code, test and put algorithms into production that serve Albert Heijn customers and Albert Heijn employees
- Convey complex ideas to different audiences in an effective manner
- Coach and mentor your colleagues
- Strategically guide other teams at Albert Heijn on AI/genAI opportunities
- Work in multidisciplinary product teams and closely to our business stakeholders
We are looking for candidates with:
- A master’s degree in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Econometrics, Computer Science or other relevant studies. If no relevant study, demonstrably relevant experience and interest
- Proven experience as data scientist, preferably within an eCommerce environment
- Experience in leading successful implementations of modern search and/or recommendation system projects; experience with building LLM systems is a plus
- Ability to explain complex matter in an effective way to various audiences
- Experience in coaching your colleagues
- Advanced experience in Python/Spark
- Strong software development skills, able to write solid readable and testable code (Python, packaging, testing, CI/CD)
- Experience with cloud platforms and using containers (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
